The Gatorade State Boys Cross Country Runners of the Year were selected based on athletic production and impact in the 2015-16 season. Each winner also demonstrated high academic achievement and exemplary personal character, including volunteerism, sportsmanship and community leadership.

THE WINNER: Isaac Harding
School: Rockford (Mich.)
Position: Distance Runner
Weight: 115 pounds
Athletic achievement: He raced to the Division 1 individual state championship this past season with a time of 15:10.4, leading the Rams to the state title as a team. Harding also broke the tape at the Portage Invitational, the MSU Spartan Invitational and the Culver Academies Invitational. He took third at the Nike Cross Nationals Midwest championships, ninth at the Foot Locker Midwest Regional championships and finished 23rd at the national Foot Locker Cross Country Championships.
Academic excellence: Harding has maintained a 3.97 GPA.
Exemplary character: He has participated in multiple mission trips with his church youth group.
“Isaac is the most determined athlete that I’ve coached,” said Rockford coach Andrew Martin. “He’s a trusted leader and his teammates aspire to emulate him on the course and in the classroom.”
THE FUTURE: Harding remains undecided upon a collegiate destination.
