The Gatorade State Boys Basketball Players of the Year were selected based on athletic production and impact in the 2015-16 fall season. Each winner also demonstrated high academic achievement and exemplary personal character, including volunteerism, sportsmanship and community leadership.

THE WINNER: Aanen Moody
School: Dickinson (N.D.)
Weight: 150 pounds
Athletic achievement: He averaged 33 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game while shooting 90 percent from the free throw line, leading the Midgets (16-9) to the Class A quarterfinals this past season. A First Team All-Conference selection, Moody led the Western Dakota Association in total steals, 3-point shots made and free throw shooting percentage and surpassed the 1,000-point mark with a year remaining in his prep career.
Academic excellence: Moody has maintained a 3.67 GPA.
Exemplary character: A member of the National Honor Society, he has volunteered locally as a youth basketball coach.
“As a basketball player, Aanen Moody had an extraordinary season,” said Luke Anderson, head coach at Jamestown High. “Not only did he score a tremendous amount, he did it while shooting a very good percentage in the process.”
THE FUTURE: Moody will begin his senior year of high school this fall.
