Each night during the Section 1 girls basketball tournament, I’ll update scores, write game recaps and post the upcoming schedule for the next round’s games. If you have anything to add, feel free to contact me on Twitter @Zacchio_LoHud, or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I had a prior engagement from months ago, so I was off last night; but we got to two of the four Section 1 Class A quarterfinals played.
Adrian Szkolar was at the highly-touted rematch between No. 4 Albertus Magnus and No. 5 Peekskill, which ended in the defending champion Falcons coming away with a “resilient” 61-56 win. You can catch his game story and John Meore’s photo gallery here.
Nancy Haggerty was back to see No. 6 Brewster, this time to take on No. 3 Garnets. The Garnets tandem of Katie Popp and Maddie Eck eventually proved to be too much, as they combined for 46 points in the 57-35 win to advance to their third consecutive County Center trip. You can find her game story and photos here.
