It was almost one year to the day Wednesday that Maddie Eck got the best of her former AAU coach Lindsay Carr in their first varsity rendezvous, a nine-point Rye win over Carr’s Eastchester squad. This year’s meeting will likely remain in both Eck’s and Carr’s memories long after the forward graduates this spring.
Eck went for 21 points Wednesday night, including the 1,000th of her career, in Rye’s 64-50 win. Eck, a Con Edison scholar-athlete who is committed to play at Amherst next season, needed seven points to reach the milestone.
After the game Carr tweeted kudos to her former pupil:
Congrats to one of the most talented players I know on scoring her 1,000th point tonight! Proud of you Maddie Eck!— Lindsay Farley (@CoachFarleyEHS) January 7, 2016
