The Livingston County Division I girls soccer title is on the line at 6:30 p.m. when Hornell plays at rival Livonia. The rivals met on Sept. 14 and it ended in a 1-1 draw.

Livonia had occupied the top spot in the Democrat and Chronicle small-school coaches’ poll all fall, but the Red Raiders took over No. 1 this week. They had three first-place votes; Livonia had one and No. 3 Wheatland-Chili garnered the other. Hornell features top scorer sophomore forward Julia Ashworth (13 goals/2 assists) and senior midfielder Erin Briggs, who has 5 goals and 17 assists. The assist total is second in Section V this fall, behind only 19 by Marion’s Chloe DeLyser. She leads the area with 33 goals and 19 assists. Hornell is 5-0-1 in the division; Livonia is 4-0-1.

Defending Section V Class D1 champion Wheatland-Chili suffered its first loss on Sept. 29 when they let a 2-0 lead turn into a 3-2 loss against No. 5 Byron-Bergen, which jumped four spots up to No. 5 in the poll.

In the large-school poll, Spencerport grabbed a couple of first-place votes away from No. 1 Fairport, but there wasn’t much movement by teams.
