GREENVILLE – Riverheads and Buffalo Gap took a 1-1 tie into the sixth inning before the Gladiators broke the game open, topping the Bison 5-1 Friday in baseball.
After Buffalo Gap got a run across the plate in the top of the second, Ridge Stokes was able to answer for the Gladiators with a solo home run. Both teams could not break the tie until Riverheads scored all four of their remaining runs with a rally in the bottom of the sixth.
Troy Hodge pitched a complete game for the Bison, giving up only seven hits over the contest and had four strikeouts.
Andrew Golladay was solid on the mound for the Gladiators, with five strikeouts and only gave up two hits. Austin Craft came at the end of the seventh to close out the Bison.
Riverheads improves to 12-3 and heads to East Rock on Tuesday. Buffalo Gap falls to 2-10 and will head to Stuarts Draft next Wednesday.
