The beginning of the golf postseason has started with the district tournaments, and plenty of Blue Water Area talent is moving on to regionals.
The top six teams at each district site move along to the next stage while the top six individuals that are not on qualifying teams also punched their tickets to next week’s regional tournaments.
Division 1 at Golden Hawk Golf Club
Port Huron sophomore Nick Bailey is off to the regional round, posting a 75 to easily earn him an individual spot in the regional round at The Orchards next Thursday.
As a team, Port Huron fell short by taking 12th with a 381. Kyle Hepting had a 90, Mark Kovach had a 100 and Ryan Moore had a 116.
Port Huron Northern also fell short of the top six, taking eighth with a 352. Billy Fealko led with an 85, Nick Miller had an 88, Luc Bowman had an 89 and Kurtis Obermyer had a 90.
Utica Ford took first overall with a 308, and Stevenson took the sixth spot with a 340. Utica Ford junior Drew Tucci led the field with a 69.
Division 3 at Heather Hills
Almont, Richmond, Marine City and Imlay City will be making their way to the regional round next Friday at Atlas Valley Country Club, finishing third through sixth, respectively.
Almont totaled a 350, led by Hunter Brandt’s 78 and Austin Miller’s 87.
Richmond tallied a 358 with Noah Kosal carding an 83 with Owen Kosal and Jimmy Powers each having a 90 to help the Blue Devils.
Marine City took fifth with a 359, led by Jarrod Belli with a 78 and Nolan Gilbert’s 89. Brendan Bohm also had a solid round, shooting a 93.
Imlay City took the sixth and final team spot with a 375, led by Jonathan Keeley’s 88. Cabrini and Lutheran North each tied for first with a 341.
Capac took seventh with a 426, but Ian Rennie’s 94 and Aaron Dheweke’s 109 were good to push them individually to the next round.
Algonac placed eighth with a 434, and Ben Burgess’s 95 and Trent Tappa’s 109 will have them golfing individually at regionals as well.
Division 4 at Fountains Golf Club
Everest Collegiate took first at Fountains Golf Club with a 334, and Genesee Christian took the final team spot with a 389.
Brown City placed seventh with a 398, but Mitch Conley’s 91 and Phil Lowe’s 98 at Westwynd Golf Club next Wednesday.
Cardinal Mooney placed 10th with a 464 and Daniel Everhart will move onto regionals after shooting a 94.
