It’s been a historic season for the Grand Ledge boys soccer team this fall that has included the program’s first CAAC Blue title.
And the Comets will have a chance to add to their strong season with a CAAC Gold Cup title over the next couple weeks.
Grand Ledge, which went unbeaten while capturing the outright Blue title, enters the Gold Cup as the top overall seed. The Comets, who finished as the Gold Cup runner-up last fall, open the tournament Tuesday against No. 8 seed Jackson.
CAAC Red champion Haslett is the No. 2 seed, CAAC Blue runner-up Okemos is the No. 3 seed and Division 2 No. 2-ranked and reigning Gold Cup champion East Lansing is the No. 4 seed. Rounding out the Gold Cup field is CAAC White champion and Division 3 No. 6-ranked Williamston, reigning Division 2 state champion Mason and Division 3 No. 12-ranked Lansing Catholic.
DeWitt, which finished tied for second in the CAAC Red with Mason, is the top seed for the Silver Cup.
Opening-round CAAC Cup games will be played Tuesday, with second-round contests slated for Thursday. Third-round games will be played on Monday Oct. 10, and the Gold and Silver Cup championships will take place Oct. 11 at Mason High School.
