The top two finishers from this year’s City Meet will be grouped together for the first round of the ‘AA’ boys state golf championship.
O’Gorman’s Bryce Hammer, who won the City Meet with a three-day score of 211, and Washington’s Will Grevlos, who finished on stroke back, are in the top grouping with Lincoln’s George Mickelson and Pierre’s Austin Hoss. They will be the first group to tee off Monday, with start time set for 9 a.m.
The two-day event will take place at Moccasin Creek Country Club in Aberdeen.
Hammer enters this year’s state tournament having won five of the eight events O’Gorman has participated. He and Grevlos tied for second at the Metro Meet earlier this week with a score of 76.
In Class A, the starting group will consist of Jacob Lee (Parkston), Danny Sazue (Chamberlain), Nick Lust (St. Thomas More) and Jake Peterson (Canton).
Theirs is also a two-day event, which will take place at the Hart Ranch Golf Course in Rapid City.
