HAYNESVILLE — The No. 1-seeded Haynesville Golden Tornado showed their dominance in Class 1A as the Tors knocked out No. 8 Delhi Charter, 37-6 here on Friday night.
In an explosive first half, the Tors had 178 total offense yards and held the Gators to 48.
The first score of the game came from a QB keep by Trent Franklin for 12 yards. Franklin finished the game with 28 yards rushing on five carries and a touchdown and 4-of-8 passing for 31 yards and a touchdown.
Picking up an additional 125 total offense yards, a fumble, and an interception, the Tors picked up where they left off in the first half.
Two backs who kept the Tornado offense rolling were seniors Treyon Hunter, 123 yards on 25 carries and two touchdowns, and Jerious Bittle, 94 yards on 12 carries and a touchdown.
At the end of the game, the Tors accumulated 303 total offense yards – 272 yards on the ground – compared to the Gators’ 216.
Haynesville will play host in the semifinals to No. 5 Oak Grove, which is coming off of a 46-20 win over Plain Dealing.
