NASHVILLE Hendersonville High seniors Rae Gullett and Allison Newell won the District 9-AAA Individual Tennis Tournament doubles title on Tuesday afternoon, capturing a 6-3, 6-2 win over Beech seniors Courtney Brooks and Allie Guinn at Centennial Sportsplex.

The final match was originally scheduled for last Wednesday, but weather and various scheduling conflicts forced the postponement until Tuesday.

Both teams advance to the Region 5-AAA Tournament. Brooks and Guinn also qualified for the region tournament last season as the district runner-up, while Gullett comprises half of the district championship team for the second consecutive season.

Last season, she paired with Sarah Hall to win the 9-AAA title en route to an appearance in the Class AAA state quarterfinals.
