SELLERSBURG, Ind. – Hoosier Hysteria got off to a raucous start at Silver Creek Tuesday night.

Henryville needed overtime to break a 14-game losing streak to the host Dragons as it held on for a 50-47 win. Just as Silver Creek’s Cameron Stephens missed a 3-pointer at the buzz, the Henryville fans stormed the floor and started taking selfies.

In those 14 consecutive defeats to Silver Creek, the Hornets endured a couple of 51-point thumpings in the last four years.

“This is so big for our school,” Henryville coach Jared Hill said. “This program has been through a lot. For them (his players) to come down here and beat them on their home floor, they’ll remember this for the rest of their lives.”

Robertson led the Hornets with 25 points, hitting 8 of 10 from the free-throw line.

“Braxton is, by far, the most important player we have,” Hill said. “He’s an ultimate team leader.”

The Hornets still led 42-39 before Stephens drilled a 3-pointer from the right corner with 28 seconds left to tie the game. Robertson missed a 10-footer at the end of regulation.

In overtime, the Dragons never led as Henryville was determined to end its long drought against Silver Creek. Henryville’s Kade Badger hit two free throws with 6.1 seconds left to give the Hornets a 50-47 edge.

Stephens missed a 3-point attempt to tie the game once more at the buzzer.

“We’re supposed to practice tomorrow,” Hill said. “We may take the day off.”
