They are so ready for their close-up.
Thanks to FLORIDA TODAY’s story about the Heritage High Panthers baseball team and head coach Rob Querry’s offer to let the players name his next son, the team will be featured on the “Today” show about 8 a.m. Saturday. (It is the day after April Fool’s Day, but trust us, this is no joke. And neither is the offer to “name my baby.”)
Querry told the players they could name his son if the team could win 14 games, which would guarantee its first winning season. The story was picked up by media across the nation and beyond, even the UK’s Daily Mail.
Heritage opened in fall 2009. FLORIDA TODAY will be at the field Saturday morning to cover the television appearance.
