Jeffrey Utegg, who has been an assistant coach in girls and boys cross country and boys and girls track at Honeoye Falls-Lima, was fired on Oct. 28 after school officials learned enough information to conduct an investigation and notify Child Protective Services.
Utegg’s name was revealed by the district at Tuesday evening’s Board of Education meeting. The nature of misconduct was not disclosed. District officials have declined further comment. A statement posted on HF-L’s website last week said the district was first notified of “specific concerns regarding the actions,” of a coach on Oct. 24. The coach was immediately suspended.
The district also disclosed in its statement that it was cooperating with New York State Police and CPS as they each conducted their own investigations. According to the Board of Education minutes, Utegg lives in Pittsford. A release from June on the HF-L Athletics site identifies him as an assistant coach for both the boys and girls cross country and track teams.
He was listed only as a cross country coach in the Board of Education minutes. State police confirmed on Friday its investigation into the former coach was still ongoing.
