Section V Football sponsor Ontario Honda designates Players of the Week based on the nominations of coaches. Members of the Section V football committee select the recipients.
Offensive Players of the Week
Class AA: Marquis Carter (Pittsford). Senior running back produced 187 rushing yards on 12 carries with three touchdowns during the first half of Pittsford’s 55-point victory over Webster Thomas.
Class A: Alton Jones Jr. (Spencerport). The new Section V single-game rushing record holder after he ran for 491 yards on 26 carries, seven for touchdowns. The 5-foot 11-inch, 150-pound junior’s performance is third-best in state history. He also caught a touchdown reception during 63-39 win over Irondequoit.
Class B: Jack Henby (Hornell). Running back finished with 217 yards on 16 carries and four touchdowns during a 42-point win over Le Roy. Henby played one series in the third quarter.
Class C: Eli Prosser (South Seneca/Romulus/Trumansburg). The junior running back’s 272 all-purpose yards, including 262 rushing yards on 23 carries, helped South Seneca/Romulus/Trumansburg defeat Mynderse, 26-8.
Class D: Cameron Odum (Finney/Northstar). Senior running back had 203 yards on 22 carries with touchdown runs of 4, 30, 2 and 2 yards during a 36-7 win over Batavia Notre Dame.
Defensive Players of the Week
Class AA: Nasiere Tisdale (Churchville-Chili). Sophomore defensive end helped the Saints to a .500 record with 10 solo tackles, including two for a loss, and four sacks during a 22-13 win over Gates Chili.
Class A: Chuck Finocchario (Greece Arcadia). Arcadia won its first game of the season as the junior end made 13 tackles with three sacks and blocked an extra-point attempt. Arcadia defeated Greece Olympia, 30-6.
Class B: Isaiah Eldridge (Midlakes). Senior end made 10 solo tackles and had two sacks during a 30-20 win over Penn Yan. The Midlakes defense forced four turnovers and had four sacks.
Class C: Logan Gough (Wellsville). Senior linebacker led Wellsville with two sacks and 12 tackles, five for a loss. Wellsville defeated Wayland-Cohocton, 20-13.
Class D: Ryan Garrett (Clyde-Savannah). His two quarterback sacks and five tackles helped the Golden Eagles defeat Dundee, 49-6. The senior end also forced a fumble.
