Section V football sponsor Ontario Honda designates Players of the Week based on the nominations of coaches. Members of the Section V football committee select the recipients.
Offensive Players of the Week
Class AA: Keshawn Howard (Fairport): Senior quarterback threw for a touchdown and passed for another during a 31-28 win over Hilton. Howard finished with 205 passing yards on 13 of 23 attempts and 103 rushing yards on 16 carries.
Class A: Shea McDonald (Brighton): The Barons enter sectionals as a No. 2 seed, after McDonald completed 12 of 22 pass attempts for 215 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for 111 yards with a touchdown on 17 carries against Spencerport.
Class B: Braeden Zenelovic (Wayne): Junior quarterback completed 15 of 17 pass attempts for three touchdowns and 182 yards during a 35-0 win over Waterloo. Zenelovic played one half.
Class C: Eli Prosser (South Seneca/Romulus/Trumansburg): Junior running back Eli Prosser finished with 303 yards and three touchdowns on 29 carries during a 38-28 win over Lyons.
Class D: PJ Brennan (Alexander): Senior quarterback led the Trojans to a 48-7 win over previously undefeated Finney/Northstar with four touchdown passes. He completed six of his throws for 141 yards and also had 30 yards rushing.
Defensive Players of the Week
Class AA: Tony Deleo (Webster Schroeder). Senior defensive tackle made six tackles, including a quarterback sack and returned an interception 50 yards for a touchdown during a shutout win over Churchville-Chili.
Class A: Rayshauid Smith (Eastridge): The Lancers defeated Canandaigua 18-14, as Smith made five solo tackles, and intercepted two passes. Smith is a junior defensive back.
Class B: Nate Arnold (Palmyra-Macedon). A senior defensive end, Arnold made nine solo tackles, finished with two sacks and recovered a fumble during a 17-7 win over Midlakes.
Class C: Kaiden Davis (Letchworth/Warsaw). Made 10 solo tackles, and was in on 16 from his linebacker position. The junior helped Letchworth/Warsaw defeat Perry, 28-6.
Class D: Reice Woodward (Oakfield-Alabama/Elba). Senior linebacker had six solo tackles, three sacks and returned an interception 64 yards as Oakfield-Alabama/Elba defeated Batavia Notre Dame 22-6.
