Isabelle LaBarbera scored twice to lead the Red Hook High School girls soccer team in a 5-1 win over host Newburgh on Saturday.
Claire Dyal, AJ Fuchs-White and Helena O’Shea each added a goal, and Megan Jankowiak made two saves for the Raiders (2-0).
“There are some things we did very well and other things we need to work on,” Red Hook coach Jason Pavlich said. “It’s a good game to get under our belt early, and the performance is something to build on.”
Red Hook visits Rondout Valley at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday.
Carmel 2, Beacon 0 — Meagan Meeuwisse made three saves for Beacon in the loss at home.
Beacon coach Hugo Alzate praised the play of defender Katelyn Rosa.
“You wouldn’t know she’s a freshman by how hard she plays,” Alzate said in a statement.
Arlington B 1, Nyack 0 — Shannon DeRosa scored an overtime goal on an assist from Sidney Cannon as the Admirals won on the road late Friday. Rebecca Campos and Lindsay Wood shared a shutout for Arlington B.
Spackenkill lost its three matches on the final day of pool play at the KSA Events Volleyball Classic at the Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando. The Spartans lost to Havermill of Massachusetts, 25-10, 24-26, 19-25, Metro Christian of Oklahoma, 11-25, 19-25, and Leverett’s Chapel (Texas), 15-25, 19-25, 17-25.
Beacon 3, Carmel 0 — Kajal Kolhi had 12 kills and 11 digs to lead Beacon in a 25-12, 25-14, 25-20 win over Carmel late Friday. Brianna Dembo added four kills and 14 assists, and Jummie Akinwunmi had seven kills and two blocks.
