Highlights, stats from New Albany star's performances in Vegas
New Albany star and prized 2018 recruit Romeo Langford is again showcasing his talent in front of some of the top programs in America this week, this time at the Adidas Summer Championships in Las Vegas, which began Wednesday and wrap up Sunday.
Langford turned in a gem Friday night, totaling 40 points — 25 in the first half — on 12-19 shooting in a 79-75 comeback win over Just Win Academy in the playoffs. Langford added eight rebounds. He went 5-10 from 3-point range and 11-13 from the line.
The 6-foot-5 guard spearheaded the come-from-behind effort and notched a go-ahead bucket in the final minute. He added another for insurance.
The New Albany star and his 2017 Eric Gordon All-Stars squad posted a win in the opener, with the five-star going for 22 points and 10 rebounds. He had 20 points on 7-of-13 shooting in his first game Thursday and added 18 in the third-place contest of the Creators Cup bracket later that night.
Among programs in attendance for one or more of his games include: Duke, Kentucky, UNC, Louisville, Indiana, Kansas, Texas, Florida, Oregon, UCLA, Purdue, Vanderbilt and Minnesota, per reports. He also garnered attention from ESPN analyst Seth Greenberg, who dubbed the New Albany product a “terrific prospect” and a gifted scorer.
The 17U championship game will air on ESPNU Sunday at 6 p.m. EDT.
