Ally Muller struck out 10 batters over seven innings to lead the John Jay High School softball team to a 7-4 win over visiting Ursuline Friday.
The junior let up five hits and three earned runs.
“Muller pitched a great game and contributed with the stick as well,” Patriot coach Michael Crocco said.
She went 3 for 4 at the plate, with two runs scored and an RBI.
“(Muller) is an all-around great player. She could hit last year, but she’s even better this year,” Crocco said.
Sam Fitzgerald was 3 for 4 with three runs scored, and Britney Guzman notched three RBI for the Patriots.
Crocco highlighted Kelly Rattigan (two RBI), who he said “has really fierce eyes and is an intense competitor. …(Rattigan) made an incredible defensive catch in left field.”
John Jay (1-0) visits Our Lady of Lourdes at 3 p.m. Saturday.
Peekskill 21, Beacon 8 — DaVonia Lamar finished 1 for 3 with a double, an RBI and two runs for the host Bulldogs. Savannah Mora went 1 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored.
Beacon (0-1) visits Horace Greeley at 11 a.m. Saturday.
Hendrick Hudson 11, Arlington B 2 — Tabitha Rice went 2 for 3 with an RBI for the visiting Admirals late Thursday.
Arlington B (0-1) visits Peekskill for a doubleheader on Monday.
Rhinebeck coach Nick Nikolatos said his Hawks played a “very good defensive game” to edge Germantown 1-0 in its season opener at home.
Ryan Euell scored off a sacrifice fly from Spencer Hutchins in the first inning.
Matt Martin contributed with two hits for the Hawks, who Nikolatos said turned four double plays.
Chris Cassen pitched five innings, and Euell tossed the last two in relief.
Rhinebeck (1-0) visit Saugerties at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Webutuck 12, Poughkeepsie 8 — Ethan Lounsbury was 3 for 3 with a triple and four runs scored for the visiting Warriors late Thursday. Teammate Chris Reed finished 2 for 3 with a double and two runs scored.
Lucas Ramos was 2 for 4 for the Pioneers with a home run, a triple and two runs scored.
Steve Disla finished 3 for 4 with two RBI.

At first singles, Charles Benfer beat Maxx McCabe 6-3, 6-4. At first doubles, Yazeed Haidaoui beat Chris Hakim 6-4, 6-1. Claude Stephens topped James Yang at third singles, 6-4, 6-1.
The first doubles duo of Anthony LoPiccolo and Marc Melita beat Jared Hoban and Jonathan Wright 6-0, 6-0. Connor Kortright and Harrison Pietzrak beat Brady Hoban and William Wright at third doubles, 6-1, 6-0.
