Hudson Valley boys fail to medal at BCANY

For the first time since the inception of the BCANY tournament, the Hudson Valley boys basketball failed to come away with a medal at the Johnson City Schools.

Hudson Valley, a team that was younger and more inexperienced than teams of the past, went 2-3 in the tournament.

On Sunday, Hudson Valley defeated Mid Hudson 93-69. Jordan Means of Stepinac led the way for Hudson Valley scoring 23 points, while Byram Hills’ Matt Groll pulled down 10 rebounds.

They concluded pool play Saturday in a 97-92 loss to Adirondack. Kennedy’s Malachi deSousa scored 21 points. In other games on Saturday, the edged out Suffolk 68-66 and lost to Central 94-70.

Things didn’t get off on the right foot for Hudson Valley Friday as they lost to Rochester 86-58. Peekskill’s CJ Redd scored 11 in the game.
