A teenager in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, was pictured dragging a home-made tire pull to prepare for football training drills. As it turns out, the photo was so inspiring to one Indiana youth football coach that it earned the teen a spot training with his athletes, and that was just the beginning.
As reported by Indianapolis CBS affiliate WTTV, Earl Davis saw Demarco on the side of the street pulling two tires held together by a homemade chain. Davis, who coaches for Metro Youth Sports, was so inspired by Demarco’s commitment to training as best he could that he offered the teen a chance to train with his program. That, in turn, inspired a Facebook recap of the interaction, which quickly received 30,000 views amidst a social media firestorm of attention.
Within days, a GoFundMe account was established in Demarco’s name to raise funds for proper training equipment for the teen and his brothers. That fund has already surpassed its initial goal, and inspired a local professional training outfit, AWP Sports, to offer up its own facility and instruction for Demarco and his brothers.
The rise has been sudden and stunning, not to mention a strong reminder of what people can accomplish when they’re sufficiently motivated to help one another.
