MURFREESBORO — The top high school football athlete for the Class of 2017 has a new No. 1.
Oakland High rising senior JaCoby Stevens, the top-rated athlete by 247Sports, tweeted out Monday evening that Clemson was his new No. 1 school, replacing Georgia. Georgia moved down to No. 2.
Clemson wasn’t in his original top seven when he released it on April 3.

The new top-seven lists in order Clemson, Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, LSU and Florida State. Alabama and Auburn also weren’t in his original top seven.
He told The Daily News Journal in April that while it would be difficult to crack his top seven, it would be possible.
Stevens’ original top seven in order were Georgia, LSU, Florida State, Florida, Tennessee, USC and Oklahoma.
His new list also shows that LSU has dropped in his interest level. Stevens committed to LSU in September before decommitting in November after coach Les Miles’ future there became uncertain. Miles remained the coach and LSU has remained in contention for Stevens, whose family is from Louisiana.
Stevens also tweeted that his commitment date is undetermined. He cannot sign a letter of intent until Feb. 1, 2017. He added there are some schools not listed that he has a high interest in.
