Swimmers from Floyd Central and Jeffersonville will compete in the IHSAA boys state preliminary races on Friday night at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis.
The top eight in each event (with 32 in each field) will advance to the state championship races on Saturday afternoon, while places 9-16 will compete in the consolation events.
Floyd Central senior Brendon Smith is seeded 31st in the 100-yard butterfly (53.52) and 27th in the 100 backstroke (54.47), while freshman Henry Lang is 29th in the 200 free (1:45.32) and 28th in the 100 free (47.61).
The Highlanders will also compete in the 200 medley relay (seeded 32nd in 1:42.84), the 200 free relay (seeded 30th in 1:29.91) and the 400 free relay (seeded 29th in 3:17.97).
Jeffersonville’s Benjamin Doss is seeded 32nd in the 50 free (22.02) and 24th in the 100 breaststroke (59.32), while Michael Cain will race in the 500 free (seeded 25th in 4:47.84).
