LEXINGTON, Ky. – Mark Stoops and his staff continued their 2017 recruiting momentum with a commitment from four-star Mansfield, Ohio athlete Tyrell Ajian.
Rivals.com ranks the 6-foot-1, 185-pound Ajian as the No. 10 prospect in the state of Ohio and the No. 23 athlete in the class of 2017. ESPN ranks him as the No. 83 prospect in the entire class and the No. 8 safety in the country. A source confirmed to The Courier-Journal UK is recruiting Ajian as a safety.
“Just wanted to take time and thank every coach who has recruited and offered me, and feel really special and blessed to receiver the attention I have,” Ajian wrote in a message posted to Twitter. “I’m glad to say I am furthering my education and going to play college football at the University of Kentucky.”Ajian, a junior at Madison Comprehensive High School, picked Kentucky over offers from a host of schools, including Michigan, Notre Dame, Tennessee and Wisconsin.
Ajian is the 12th commitment in Kentucky’s 2017 class and the fourth four-star pledge in the group. He is the sixth commitment from Ohio in the class. UK recruiting coordinator and tight ends coach Vince Marrow has done the bulk of the work recruiting the Ohio prospects. Rivals now ranks UK’s 2017 class ninth nationally.
