Forget baseball’s fashion debate about stirrups or no stirrups, high sock or low cuff.

North Henderson players will be sporting a new footwear look for their latest nonconference game. And it’s all about honoring an integral part of their program.

Monday was World Down Syndrome Day. Down Syndrome International sent out a missive that encouraged everyone to wear “lots of socks” to raise awareness.

The Knights will get into the act Tuesday when they host Reynolds at 4:30 p.m.

Assistant coach Alex Suder has Down Syndrome and was formerly a player and team manager for the first-place team in Western North Carolina Athletic Conference baseball.

Suder was part of North Henderson’s 2013 graduating class.
