Kyle Guy of Lawrence Central High School showed a lot of flash Monday in the Powerade Jam Fest in conjunction with the McDonald’s All American Games.
On a Chicago Theatre stage, Guy reached the finals of dunk contest using what he dubbed ‘Vanilla Thunder’ dunks — one-handed stuffs off of passes. One one of them, he took the pass from Roncalli’s Lindsey Corsaro while jumping over Princeton’s Jackie Young. He landed awkwardly, but was fine.

In the finals, Guy tossed the ball into the air, let it hit the floor, then tapped it from his right hand to his left, with which he dunked. He also tried to dunk on a pass from the theater balcony, but couldn’t connect.
Guy, a Virginia recruit, faltered on the final rack of the 3-point shooting contest to finish second behind Malik Monk, a Kentucky recruit from Bentonville, Ark.
The McDonald’s games are Wednesday night: girls at 6:30 p.m., boys at 9.
