Senior Kyle Merget scored a career-high seven goals and had two assists to lead the Highland boys lacrosse team in a 17-3 win over Goshen High School on Thursday.
The midfielder also notched his 100th career goal with 7:32 left in the fourth quarter.
“I’ve coached him since he was in sixth grade and he’s been a pleasure to have,” Highland coach Tom Schlappich said. “He’s got a very powerful shot and has good placement. He takes what he’s given and can adjust well to what the goalie and defense are doing. He’s a good finisher inside, but he’s also very good at driving to the cage or playing the two-man game.”
Chris Schlappich had three goals and four assists for the Huskies (7-2). Dylan Cuvelier added three goals, Tyler Jollie scored twice, Paul Rhodes had a goal and an assist, and Jesse Weaver scored a goal. Giorgio D’Angelo made 12 saves in the win.
Highland visits Rondout Valley at 5 p.m. Friday.
Lakeland 16, Our Lady of Lourdes 4 — Ty Arnone scored three goals in the loss for host Lourdes.
Dillon Rispoli scored a goal and Billy Wagner added two assists for the Warriors (5-6). Matt Sayegh made 15 saves and dfender Corey Mullaly held Lakeland All-American attack Kevin Prunty scoreless.
Lourdes visits Albertus Magnus at 4:45 p.m. Monday.
North Salem 8, Haldane 7 — Will Heintzman scored five goals in the loss for visiting Haldane.
Brandon Twoguns added two goals and John Hankel made 10 saves for the Blue Devils (2-10).
North Salem took an 8-5 lead in the third quarter.
Haldane hosts Pawling at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Mahopac 12, Wappingers 7 — Jack Decker, Jake Shaw and Billy Biegun each scored two goals for the visiting Warriors.
Travis Ventura added one goal and one assist.
Goalie Emad Jamal made four saves.
Cornwall 12, Franklin D. Roosevelt 3 — Eli Kochman had a goal and an assist in the loss for host Roosevelt.
Brian Manwaring and Jack Hamel each also scored for the Presidents (4-7). Kevin Wise added an assist and Matt Bertsche made 17 saves.
Abbi Munson scored six times and made an assist for visiting Highland, but the Huskies lost 13-12 to John S. Burke Catholic.
Eliz Fino scored three times while Savanna Caso (two goals, one assist), and Hannah Sullivan (one goal, two assists) chipped in.
Miranda Bellacicco made nine saves for Highland.
Millbrook 16, Burke 3 — Brooke Babbitt, Sam Szalewicz and Liz Halpin each scored three goals to lead host Millbrook late Wednesday.
Kaitlyn Daly added two goals and four assists, Isa Rosenzweig scored twice and Taylor Redl had a goal and an assist for the Blazers.
