STAUNTON — Buffalo Gap Coach Dawn Sheets talked to her team prior to Monday nights game against Lee about “Playing to our potential every game and coming out strong early.” The Lady Bison did just that, batting through the lineup in the first inning to jump out to a 7-0 lead and never looked back, topping Lee 25-0 in softball action.
The cold weather didn’t slow down Gap’s Katy Simmons as she hurled a complete game striking out ten, while only surrendering one hit and a walk. She also led the way at the plate, batting 5-5 with five RBIs and a HR.
Amber Stokes also went 5-5 and batted in four runs. Sierra Clifton was also perfect at the plate at 4-4 and knocked in another 3 runs.
Jesse Bartley managed Lee’s only hit of the game.
With the win, Buffalo Gap improves to 3-0 and heads to Nelson County on Tuesday. Lee will host East Rock on Tuesday still looking for their first win of the season.
