Lakeland tops Connecticut-power Wilton; Scarsdale, Mamaroneck win by shutout


The busiest day of the field hockey season to date saw the area’s top three teams win. Included was Lakeland, which defeated another top-ranked Northeastern team in Wilton, Connecticut.

Among other winners were Scarsdale and Mamaroneck, which shut out their opponents.

Lakeland 3, Wilton 1: In a battle of two elite teams, Lakeland increased its season mark to 7-0 behind goals by Cali Cortese, Kelsey McCrudden and Julianna Cappello.

Mia Lennon had two assists and Cameron Lischinsky added one.

Delaney Chase scored for Wilton.

Emma Likelly had eight saves for Wilton. Cassie Halpin had two stops for Lakeland.

Scarsdale 4, Horace Greeley 0: Audrey Shaev had two goals and an assist and Erin Nicholas and Jilly Mehlman also scored as the Raiders raised their record to 8-1.

Julia Jamesley and Emma Coleman also added assists.

Lila Horwood had seven saves for Scarsdale. Willa Kuhn stopped six shots for Greeley, which is now 5-3.

Mamaroneck 7- Mahopac 0: Elizabeth Brissette had a hat trick and Paige Danehy had four assists for the 6-1-1 Tigers.

Molly Banks scored twice and had an assist and Brigid Knowles and Sophie Brill also scored and Sophie Miller and Molly Banks each had an assist.

North Salem 2, Rye Neck 1: Hailey Starace scored twice.

Charlie Reiner and Allison Eberhardt had the assists on the first goal and Jessica Reiner assisted on the second.

Emily Cohen had Rye Neck’s goal, which tied the score about nine minutes into the second half before Starace netted the winner fewer than three minutes later.

Rye Neck keeper Christina Chin had seven saves. North Salem goalie Olivia Desanto had two saves.

Ursuline 3, Edgemont 0: Holly Lombino had two goals and Kay Woodtli one.

Marge Taylor had an assist.

Pearl River 1, Panas 1: Megan Delaney scored off a rebound for Pearl River and Lisa Guzzo netted the Panther goal.

Kerry Gettler had two saves for the Pirates.  Lisa Guzzo had one stop for Panas.

Putnam Valley 5, Lourdes 0: Caleigh Jacobs and Danielle Cunningham each scored twice as the Tigers won their second game.

Mary Calabro also scored.

Jacobs, Kotoe Abe and Joanna Pelc all had two assists.

Mia Ardovini-Booker had 12 saves for winless Lourdes.

Lauren Turner had two saves for Putnam Valley.

Fox Lane 4, Pleasantville 0: Kayla Gallagher scored three times and Olivia Dey had a goal and an assist.

Isabel Abt and Natalie Bazyk each had an assist.

Pleasantville goalie Jackie Bendenson had five saves. Grace Kiernan had four saves for the 5-2 Foxes.

Bronxville 8, Irvington 0: Mia Bettino continued her hot play with four goals and Hannah Weirens had three assists.

Ellie Walsh, Caroline Brashear, Kathryn Gordon and Kar Ungvary also scored and Ava Austi and Kat Ungvary had solo assists.

Valhalla 6, Byram Hills 0: Lauren Kreder found the net twice and Isabella Riguzzi had a goal and an assist.

Emma LoConte, Bella Ruane and Araceli Alvarez also scored.

Angela Vlad added two assists.

Holy Child 5, Masters 0: Five players scored as Holy Child increased its record to 4-1.

Olivia Bonner, Agustina Garate-Griot, Emily Pelligrino, Molly Mackie and Martina Garate-Griot scored.

Pelligrino, Mackie and Claire Doyle had assists.

Masters goalie Saskis Sacker-Bernstein had 12 saves for Masters.

Holy Child’s Charlotte Wertimer didn’t face any shots.

Rye 3, Arlington 1: Senior Fusine Govaert registered a hat trick as the Garnets won their sixth game in seven tries.

Lotje Rogaar had an assist.

Sleepy Hollow 6, Hastings 1: Arielle Edber had three goals, Gabby Delmonica two and Lindsay Boozer one.

Julia Berman scored for Hastings.

Hannah Sperber had 13 saves for the Hornets. Marissa Fortugno stopped three shots for Sleepy Hollow.
