New Albany sophomore Romeo Langford’s school-record 46 points in Saturday’s Class 4A semistate win over Southport to earn IBCA/Subway Player of the Week honors.
The 6-4 Langford had 46 points and nine rebounds in New Albany’s 82-64 win over Southport in Richmond. The top-ranked Bulldogs (26-1) will play in the 4A state finals against McCutcheon (28-3) on Saturday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
Other recipients of the Player of the Week honors were Gary 21st Century senior Eugene German, Tri-West sophomore Tyler Watson and Bloomfield junior Chris Gilmore.
The 6-foot German, a Northern Illinois recruit, had 42 points and five rebounds as Gary 21st Century lost 102-80 to Liberty Christian in the Class A semistate. German was 14-for-30 from the field and 5-for-14 from the 3-point line as the Cougars finished 20-7.
Watson scored 34 points, including 25 after halftime, as Tri-West lost 74-71 in double-overtime to Evansville Bosse in the Class 3A semistate at Seymour.
Gilmore had 24 points and 13 rebounds has as Bloomfield defeated West Washington 58-53 in a Class A semistate. The 6-2 guard made six 3-pointers to lead the Cardinals (26-3) to the state finals.
