Legendary Texas girls basketball coach Sue Cannon reaches 1,100 victories

Sue Cannon, the legendary Texas girls basketball coach, won her 1,100th game Tuesday night as Euless Trinity beat Home School Athletic Association (HSAA) 56-28, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Cannon pushed her overall career record to 1,100-348 and 722-270 at Trinity, which is already 11-0 this season.

According to the National Federation record book, the winningest girls basketball coach is Leta Andrews at 1,416 victories. She retired from Granbury (Texas) in 2014.

The active wins leader is also from Texas. Joe Lombard is No. 2 overall with 1,261 entering this season, according to the Amarillo Globe-News. Lombard, whose teams have won the last three state 5A titles, was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame last June.
