Levelland quarterback Nick Gerber threw for 216 yards Friday to set the single-season passing yardage record in Texas.
Gerber ended the game 20-for-41 with a touchdown and three interceptions as Levelland’s season came to an end with a 49-14 loss to Wylie (Abilene) in the 4A Division I state quarterfinals.
He finished the season with 5,617 yards to break the mark of Refugio’s Travis Quintanilla, who had 5,557 in 2013.
Gerber’s one passing TD added to his own state record and he finished with 77 on the season. He finished with 157 career passing touchdowns, which is fifth in state history.
