2016 Briarcliff Bears
Coach — John Schrader

How many years have you been coaching with your school? I have been coaching baseball for 26 years (second as head coach at Briarcliff).

How did the team do last season? In 2015 we were 15-7. We lost in second round of the Class B playoffs to Valhalla. .

Who are your top returning players? Jake Hertz, Sr., CF; Cam Johnson, Sr., P/1B (All-Section, All-State); Joe Canonaco, Sr. P/RF (All-Section); JM Dolgetta, Sr., C (All-Section); Miles Henshaw, Sr., 2B (All-Section); Jack Ryan, So., SS/P; Jake Hardy, Jr., RF/P.

Who are the top players that you lost to graduation? We lost Rob Contento, Mike King and Will Speilfogel to graduation.

How do you feel about your pitching entering the season? Our pitching is poised, experienced, deep and they command the ball.

Your lineup? Our lineup is deep, experienced, smart and well-rounded.

Your defense? Our defense is smart, fast, aggressive and consistent.

How would you describe your philosophy on how the game should be played? I believe the game should be played with respect and give 100 percent all the time. Have fun, and expect to win every time you step on the field.

How would you assess your teams chances this year? I feel we have a confident team with a lot of composer and high expectations.

When is your opening game? Our first game is Fri., April 8th at 7 p.m. at Provident Bank Park vs. Dobbs Ferry.
