2016 Mahopac Indians
Coach — Chris Miller
How many years have you been coaching at your current school? 15 years.
How did your team fare last season? 13-7, lost in first round of Class AA sectionals.
Who are the top players that you lost to graduation? Cal Larence (All Section), Joe Fischera (All Section), Lou Nardella (All League), Chris Melnik, CJ Sager, John Reda, Chris DellaMedaglia and Mike Celestino.
Who are your key returning players? Greg Cavaliere, Sr., C (All League); Brendan White, Sr., RHP; Anthony Mirditaj, Sr., RHP.
How do you feel about your pitching entering the season? We have two senior starters who will give us a chance to win every time they pitch. The rest of the staff is inexperienced but have the ability to succeed.
Your lineup? We are inexperienced throughout the lineup, but if they play to their abilities, we should be fine. With each game, I think we can get better.
Your defense? Similar to the lineup, with each rep we are getting better.
How would you describe your philosophy on how the game should be played? Hard and with respect to the other players, coaches and umpires. If you give it your all every pitch, the game will reward you.
How would you assess your team’s chances this season? I think we will be successful. We have a great group of players who enjoy the game and the team concept. I am excited to see how this group will grow through the next few weeks.
When is your opening game? April 2nd vs Putnam Valley.
On deck: Hackley
