2016 White Plains Tigers
Coach — Marcel Galligani

How many years have you been coaching at your current school? 16 years at the varsity level, 18 total.

How did your team fare last season? 10-12, Class AA outbracket win vs. Mt. Vernon, loss to Arlington.

Who are the top players that you lost to graduation? Ricardo Mendez and Andy Iglesias.

Who are your key returning players? Daniel Lotito (Sr., P/OF), Michael Ainsworth (Sr., SS), Steven Rand (Sr., OF), Brendan McDonough (Sr., P/OF), Spencer Lodes (So., P/1B), Gehrig Hauser (Jr., P/OF/1B), Javy Perez (Sr., P/3B) and Mac Innes (Sr., P/INF). Also looking forward to seeing some talented underclassmen compete.

How do you feel about your pitching entering the season? Excited. We have some experienced starters and relievers who will throw strikes and compete.

Your lineup? Promising. Some things still need to be sorted out as far as where some guys will hit. There will several guys competing for jobs and trying to crack the starting lineup.

Your defense? Confident. We return several key positional starters with one or two years of experience. We will be the most athletic defensive team I’ve had in several years.

How would you describe your philosophy on how the game should be played? Controlled aggression with focus. We want our players to be confident, fearless and unafraid to make mistakes. Short memory guys who look forward to the next pitch.

How would you assess your team’s chances this season? Same as every year, you never know. Play hard and leave it on the field.

When is your opening game? April 2nd at Danbury HS.

On deck: John Jay-East Fishkill
