AWARDS

Chef of the Week

In sports the term “cookin” is reserved for a player who goes on a scoring spree or gets hot during a game and makes big plays on the offensive end.

This week’s “Chef of the Week” award goes to Mullins (Mullins, S.C.) combo guard Jalek Felton for dropping, count ‘em, 55 points in an 83-49 win over Poca (Poca, W.Va.) at the Beach Ball Classic recently.

Yes 5-5.

Felton, a UNC commit, drained nine three-pointers and went 20-of-35 from the field in the win.

Chef-like numbers indeed.

Check it out below.

Poster of the Week

This week’s Poster of the Week winner is Huntington Prep (Huntington, W.Va.) wing Miles Bridges for destroying a defender on a dunk last week.

Bridges, a Michigan State signee, spun off of his man toward the baseline and rose up for the one-hander when all of a sudden another defender, who apparently hadn’t done his homework on Bridges’ hops, tried in vain for the block.

Bad idea.

Watch below.

Oh No They Didn’t!

This award is reserved for the player who turned in a mind-boggling performance or play that left the crowd in a state of shock and amazement.

This week’s “Oh No They Didn’t” winner is Chino Hills (Chino Hills, Calif.) point guard Lonzo Ball for dropping a defender with a blow-by crossover at the City of Palms Classic recently.

Ball, a UCLA signee, lulled his defender with a couple of crossovers then crossed over again and blew by him, which made the defender lose his footing and drop to the hardwood. He fouled Ball in the process.

The best part?

Ball actually helped the defender up.

Oh yes he did.
