Manual takes down No. 1 ranked St. Xavier

The St. Xavier High School boys soccer team’s high-powered offense stuttered on the road on Thursday, as Manual picked up its biggest win of the season.

In a battle of top ten teams in the state, No. 9 Manual defeated No. 1 St. Xavier, 1-0, on a second half goal from sophomore Trevor Abma. The shutout was just Manual’s second of the season, but it remains unbeaten with a record of 7-0. The Tigers meanwhile fall for just the second time this season, dropping their overall record to 8-2-2.

The goal for Abma was his first of the season, though he has been credited with an assist.

St. Xavier next travels to Evansville to face Marquette High School out of St. Louis, Mo. and Quincy High School from Illinois on back to back days, starting Friday. Next for Manual is a trip to Trinity on Saturday.
