BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Marques Bolden had a solid Friday night in the boys game at the Jordan Brand Classic. He took five shots, making four of them for eight points, and had five rebounds in 25 minutes.
He has a big choice to make and he’s not sure when that will be.
Bolden, a 6-9, 250-pound forward from DeSoto, Texas, had hoped to announce his decision by Sunday (his 18th birthday), but he is still mulling whether his next school will be Kentucky or Duke.
“Kentucky works you like none other and the way they develop their guys for the next level is crazy,” Bolden said. “At Duke, they’re known for just winning. You’ll go there and you’ll be known as a winner.”
Bolden said the reason why he’s waiting is he needs to figure out what school would likely use him more.
“I need to know how important I am going to be to a university,” Bolden said. “A lot of guys do a lot of talking. It’s hard to tell who’s real and who’s not. For me, I have to trust that guy and know I will be an important factor at the university.”
Bolden said his parents will have a part in his choice, but it’s his decision. He’s also ready for the Twitter reaction to his choice.
“That’s been there through the whole journey,” Bolden said. “That’s not going to be any different.”
