The McDonogh School (Owens Mills, Md.) is riding an amazing 133 -game winning streak and has not lost since 2009.
The program is again loaded with Division I talent led by Savannah Buchanan (Notre Dame), attacker Brindi Griffin (Maryland) and defender Andie Aldave (Notre Dame).
As it begins its quest for an eighth consecutive IAAM A conference championships, McDonogh begins the year ranked as the No. 1 team in the USA TODAY High School Sports Super 25 for girls lacrosse provided by 3d Rising.

McDonogh finished No. 1 in the final Super 25 last spring ahead of Good Counsel (Olney, Md.) and Good Counsel opens this season again ranked No. 2.
The Falcons are again the favorites in the WCAC after winning their second conference title in three years and has more than 20 Division I commits on the roster, including a loaded senior class.

After a 28-1 season in 2015, St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes (Alexandria, Va.) has an ultra-deep roster with nearly 20 college commits in the junior and senior classes. Senior Ellie Carson (Dartmouth) and junior Zoe Belodeau (Penn) return to lead the offense after scoring 86 and 85 goals, respectively, last season.
West Islip (N.Y.) went 19-3 last season and won the New York State Class A championship. Vanessa Costantino (Syracuse), one of Long Island’s best midfielders and the team’s leading scorer last season with 83 points, returns.
Summit (N.J.) rounds out the Top 5 and should be in the team to beat in a highly competitive state. Senior Sara Szynal (Northwestern) will be an offensive centerpiece after totaling 86 goals and 21 assists last season.
In all, seven states and Washington, D.C., are represented in the Preseason Super 25 with 10 teams from New York, five from Maryland and four from New Jersey.
The only team outside the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic corridor is perennial power Milton, Ga., at No. 20. The Eagles have won the last six Georgia 6A titles and 10 in the previous 11 years, but have graduate a number of top players.
