Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh keeps making waves, and he’s proving that he isn’t afraid to cross the great Michigan-Ohio state divide to do so.
On Monday night, Harbaugh’s Wolverines received a commitment from Springfield, Ohio native Antwuan Johnson. One of the top inside linebacker prospects in the Class of 2018, Johnson is a 6-foot-1, 210-pound bruiser of an athlete from right in Ohio State’s backyard; his high school is approximately a 45-minute drive from Ohio State’s campus in Columbus.
As one might expect, that makes Harbaugh’s capture of the No. 3 ranked rising junior inside linebacker all the more impressive, and hard to swallow for Urban Meyer and Ohio State. Perhaps it’s karmic comeuppance for Ohio State’s poaching of Antjuan Simmons from Pioneer High in Ann Arbor, which is literally across the street from Michigan Stadium.
Either way, the recent commitments of both top prospects is a clear declaration of recruiting war by Michigan and Ohio State. May the best salesman win …
