Despite not having star running back Delvin Wood again in Week 2 due to an ankle injury, Millbrook High School’s football team ran to a victory.
The visiting Blazers beat Sullivan West 48-37 on Friday. Cody Homa rushed for 197 yards with a touchdown. Eric Manfredi rushed for 157 yards.
“It was a good win. It was our first league win and we rebounded well,” Millbrook coach Sean Keenan said. “We played without Del Wood again and the other two running backs stepped up and ran for 300 yards together. We ran the ball very well.”
Keenan also credited a strong game by the offensive line, led by Connor Latimer, for contributing to Millbrook’s offensive success. Latimer also led the defense with eight tackles.
Quarterback Jacob Wright had 175 yards passing for three touchdowns – two to Drew Jackson and one to Cameron Bilyeu (first varsity touchdown).
Millbrook (1-1) hosts New Paltz at 7 p.m. Friday.
