Boys basketball

Birmingham Groves 79, Ferndale 52: Langston Rudds scored 18 points for Groves (13-5) Drew Sheckell scored 11 points. Jalen lee scored 18 points for Ferndale (3-15).

Detroit Loyola 77, Detroit Public Safety Academy 37: Romari Ennis scored 20 points for Loyola (15-4). Pierre Mitchell and DeQuan Powell each scored 11 points. Ari Washington added 10 points. Damone Johnson scored nine points for Public Safety Academy (10-8).

Detroit Pershing 68, Dearborn Divine Child 66 (OT): D’juan Seal scored 17 points for Detroit Pershing. Ron Hill added 14 points. Quinn Blair scored 16 points for Divine Child (14-5).  Scotty Combs added 13 points.

Northville 67, Grand Blanc 55: Justin Zimbo had 24 points for Northville (18-1). Nick Wilds added 15 points. Jackarus Smith scored 17 points for Grand Blanc (14-5).

Girls basketball

Athens 56, Burr Oak 13: Jenny Smittendorf scored 18 points for Athens (14-7). Aubrey Cole added nine points.

Birmingham Detroit Country Day 77, Pontiac Notre Dame Prep 39: Destiny Pitts led Country Day with (19-1) with 22 points. Maxine Moore scored 14 points. Tylar Bennett added 11 points. Pontiac Notre Dame Prep’s Celia Gaynor added 10 points.

Dearborn 56, Lincoln Park 12: Isabelle Clarke had 18 points in the first round victory for Dearborn in district held at Detroit Cody.

Dearborn Fordson 58, Detroit Cody 52: Sarah Abdallah had 18 points for Fordson while Da’Shawna Fowler finished with 14 points for Cody,

Dearborn Henry Ford 42, Melvindale 22: Jada Williams scored 13 points for Henry Ford (14-4). Lauren Whitford had eight points and 15 rebounds. Melvindale’s Brittany White scored 10 points.

Detroit Consortium 32, Dearborn Advanced Tech 24: Brishanna Weeks had 15 points and eight rebounds for Consortium (13-4). Angel Gainey had 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Detroit Denby 50, Warren Lincoln 35: Caprice Brown scored 12 points for Denby.

Detroit Henry Ford 84, Southfield Bradford 25: Tiera Thomas had 35 points and 12 assists for Henry Ford (16-11). Taylor Williams had 18 points and 10 rebounds. Christian Epps scored 21 points for Bradford (7-8).

Detroit Mumford 71, Warren Fitzgerald 43: Tiara Earnest and Parys Fuller each score 14 points for Mumford (13-5). Donnetta Colbert added 13 points. Fitzgerald’s Tone’ Oglesby scored 18 points.

Ferndale 53, Detroit Collegiate Prep at Northwestern 42: Kayla Boyd scored 17 points. Cacy Thornton added 12 points. Faith Bynum scored 19 points for Northwestern. Erica Smith added 12 points.

Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett 51, Detroit Southeastern 22: Nia Ahart had 19 points, 10 steals, eight assists and five rebounds for University Liggett (20-4). Kendall McConico had 16 points and five rebounds. Southeastern’s Jakala Hollis scored 12 points.

Howell 38, Hartland 35 (OT): Alexis Miller scored 12 points for Howell (15-5). Graysen Cockerham scored 13 points for Hartland (18-2).

Trenton 31, Southgate Anderson 21: Trenton’s Kaylee Crowell scored 14 points.

Utica 45, Rochester 21: Cierra von Zittwitz scored 17 points for Utica (15-5). Emily Suchoski added 10 points. Jenna Wingrove scored nine points. Rochester finishes 17-14.

Waterford Mott 36, Oxford 26: Emily Huff led Waterford Mott with eight points. Monae Evans led Oxford with eight points.

Boys and girls skiing finals

Division 1

Marquette won both the boys and girls team titles in the Division 1 skiing finals at Marquette Mountain, Marquette’s Joe Weber won the grand slalom with a combined time of 57.54 seconds and Marquette’s Bradley Seaborg won the slalom in 1:11.30. On the girls side, Marquette’s Sadah Scheidt won the slalom in 1:21.93 and North Farmington’s Amelie Perez won the grand slalom in 1:02.66.

Division 2

Petoskey won the boys title in Division 2 at Shanty Creek Resorts’ Schuss Mountain. Petoskey’s Garret Lundteigen won the slalom in 1:03.01 and Petoskey’s Mitch Makala won the grand slalom in 47.24. On the girls side, Houghton’s Allyson Fenton won the grand slalom in 53.10 and Houghton’s Jenna Stein won the slalom in 1:02.94.
