It’s a tried and true recruiting tactic, and Nebraska is already pulling out all the stops, despite the months before we reach National Signing Day.
As noted by College Spun, Mike Riley’s staff has been aggressive in its outreach to primary targets. The latest proof of that comes in the form of the stack of 100 letters you see below, all of which were mailed out in a single day, to an unknown defensive line recruit from Oklahoma.
The letters were written by Nebraska graduate assistant Nick Smith, who has been part of the team in Lincoln to help create serious recruiting momentum for the Huskers, who have earned four four-star commitments and three three-stars since the start of March.
Now there are 100 letters postmarked and on the way to try and make that five four-stars or four three-stars, or heck, maybe both.
