High school basketball fans on the west coast will get their chance to see the country’s No. 1 player, Hillcrest Prep (Phoenix) center DeAndre Ayton in action early in the basketball season.

The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame released its stacked field of teams today for the 2016 American Family Insurance Hoophall West.

The event, which serves as the west coast version of the Hoophall Classic (Springfield, Mass.) in January, will take place at Chaparral High (Scottsdale, Ariz.) Dec. 9-10.

“Hoophall West is a unique event in that it showcases the best in high school basketball on both a regional and national level,” said John L. Doleva, President & CEO of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. “We thank American Family Insurance for their continued support and we look forward to hosting these outstanding matchups in beautiful Arizona.”

CBS Sports Network will televise the Saint Mary’s (Phoenix) vs. Christ the King (Middle Village, N.Y.) and Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) vs. Chino Hills (Chino, Calif.) games on Dec. 9.

Chino Hills finished last season with a state championship and the coveted No. 1 overall ranking in the USA Today Super 25 after posting a 35-0 record.

La Lumiere (La Porte, Ind.), last year’s DICK’s Sporting Goods High School Nationals runner-up, will also compete at Hoophall West.

Ayton, an Arizona commit, is one of many elite players featured at Hoophall West like Chino Hills’ shooting guard LiAngelo Ball and point guard LaMelo Ball, both UCLA commits, Corona del Sol (Phoenix) shooting guard Alex Barcello, an Arizona commit, and La Lumiere’s duo of forward Jaren Jackson, a Michigan State commit, and wing five-star Brian Bowen.

“Every dream deserves a champion. American Family Insurance believes in supporting young dreamers, such as the players featured at this year’s Hoophall West high school basketball showcase,” said Dwayne Maddox, Advertising Director, American Family Insurance. “We are proud to continue partnering with the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and their invitational Hoophall West, which features some of the best teams and players in the region and country.”
