So far, so good for No. 16 Bingham in its home state.
The Miners rolled past another Beehive state opponent on Friday night, rolling to a 35-0 lead by halftime and cruising from there en route to a 49-0 blowout of Cottonwood. There wasn’t much question about Bingham’s ability to beat a team which entered at 1-6, but the comprehensive manner in which the Miners captured the win was still impressive.
Bingham held the line throughout the third quarter, toeing the 35-0 lead and then adding a touchdown in the third quarter and one more in the fourth. Running back Jayvontay Smith scored three touchdowns for the Miners, with quarterback Matt Degn adding two more through the air. The Miners scored another touchdown on a fumble in the end zone recovered by Amoni Kaili in the second quarter.
Bingham returns to action at Taylorsville on Friday. Like Cottonwood, the Warriors will need a remarkable performance to challenge an undefeated Bingham team.
