No. 19 Grayson (Loganville, Ga.) took out two-time defending state champion Colquitt County (Moultrie) 49-21 Friday in a state AAAAAAA quarterfinal Friday in Moultrie.
The Rams never trailed and led 28-7 at the half. It was Colquitt County’s first playoff loss at home since 2008, the first year coach Rush Propst came to Colquitt County. The Packers had made it to the state semifinals the seven previous seasons.
The Rams (12-1) advance to the state AAAAAAA semifinals Friday against Mill Creek (Hoschton). The Packers end their season at 8-5.
The win gives Grayson coach Jeff Herron a 2-2 record against Propst. Herron’s Camden County (Kingsland, Ga.) team lost 13-12 in the regular season in 2012 to Colquitt County, lost 33-31 to the Packers in the 2011 state quarterfinals and topped the Packers 19-10 in the 2009 state semifinals.
