Mill Creek (Hoschton, Ga.), ranked No. 19 in the Super 25, turned a 7-0 halftime lead into a 30-0 shutout Friday night against nearby rival Dacula in a matchup voted as the Super 25 Game of the Week by readers of USA TODAY High School Sports.
Much like last year when Mill Creek turned a close game into a 34-7 victory, it was able to turn things on in the second half.
After the teams combined for 81 rushing yards in the first half, Cameron Turley connected on a 50-yard TD pass to Edmond Graham for their second long touchdown of the night and defensive end Ayoola Ogun-Semore returned a fumble for a TD in the third quarter to give Mill Creek at 21-0 lead.
Turley and Graham connected for a 61-yard TD in the first quarter.
In addition to the win on the field, the rival schools had a contest to see which could bring in more donations for local food pantries. Mill Creek won there, too, with more than 40,000 cans.
Mill Creek has posted victory against Colquitt County, Stephenson and now Dacula for a 3-0 start to the season.
