Watch out, Southern California. The Mater Dei train is coming.
The USA TODAY Super 25 No. 3 Monarchs rolled to their latest one-sided blowout, 42-0, against Edison. Stop us if you’ve heard any of these details before: Sophomore quarterback J.T. Daniels was outstanding, completing passes all over the field. The St. Brown brothers, Osiris and Amon-Ra, both had touchdown grabs. And the Mater Dei defense stuffed an opposing offense repeatedly.
Wash, rinse, repeat. Another win in the books.
To put Mater Dei’s current dominance in perspective, consider this: the Monarchs have outscored opponents 278-21 this season, and they show no sign of slowing down.
Mater Dei hosts Santa Margarita next Friday, the final tune up before a tough back-to-back stretch against Orange Lutheran and No. 10 St. John Bosco. Barring a surprise next week, the face off between Bosco and the Monarchs is already shaping up to be one of the season’s best and most heated tussles.
