No. 6 McGill-Toolen (Mobile, Ala.) scored touchdowns on its first six possessions and won its 15th straight game, a 55-7 throttling of Bryant (Irvington, Ala.).
The Yellow Jackets (6-0) needed just 95 seconds to open the scoring, and when Bryant (1-5) fumbled on each of its first two possessions, McGill-Toolen took advantage of a short field it didn’t need to go up 20-0 just 4:24 into the game.
By the end of the first quarter it was 34-0 with Trey Roberson scoring a pair of touchdowns. Bubba Thompson threw a TD pass to Jalen Tolbert, and Bryan Hill also ran in a score.
Marlon Williams, last week’s Super 25 Top Star, capped the Jackets’ first-half scoring early in the second quarter before McGill-Toolen eased up on the gas pedal. Two more Bryant fumbles in the second half led to the Jackets’ final two TDs of the night.
McGill-Toolen next plays Montgomery (Semmes, Ala.) on Friday, Oct. 7.
