Four-star point guard Lavar Batts Jr., among the top players in North Carolina in the Class of 2017, has committed to Virginia Commonweath, he announced on Instagram.
Batts, a 6-2 guard from Jay M. Robinson (Concord, N.C.) committed during his official campus visit Saturday. He chose VCU over Clemson.
He is ranked No. 99 in the ESPN100.
Batts averaged 20.2 points per game last season as a junior and is his school’s leading scorer with more than 1,500 points.
He averaged 11.8 points and 3.6 assists for Team CP3 in the Nike EYBL over the summer.
He is the first member of VCU’s recruiting class.
